Race Support
This weekend saw the first ‘Race Support’ weekend for the riders on our Young Racer programme.
These race support weekends aren’t just about line choices and bike setup, they are about the whole package of ‘race craft’.
How you manage yourself, your behaviours and your reactions to the changing situation of a race weekend are often the reasons people achieve what they want to achieve on the bike; we believe this approach is true for most things in life, not just racing bikes.
The riders worked with mechanicals, crashes, soaking kit, line choices, changing track conditions and proper Welsh mud - a lot of which was perfect preparation for National and World Cup races in the future.
With the support of Ian and Olly, they worked hard on their mental and physical approach to the whole weekend and worked together as a group to get the outcomes they hoped for. For some, this meant a podium and for others this meant putting down a solid run in tough conditions - all of them worked hard for their result and learned a lot about themselves and how to manage a race weekend along the way.
For us, that’s what racing is all about; working hard, having fun on the bike and developing skills that will serve you well on the bike and in life in general and that’s why we love it so much.
